Fun Time with Corsets - 1 - Black Bridal Ovebust

I think everyone, especially ladies, have the trouble of opening up your wardrobe and having no idea what to wear for the day or event. Does this top go with that bottom? Should I wear a jacket? Gloves, stockings, or both?

So when it comes to corsets, there is no doubt that many people become even more confused. One important tip on matching outfits with a corset, is to view the corset as a strapless tube top. However, unlike normal tube tops, they have push-up and tummy-tuck effects! You can say bye-bye to bras and love handles!!

"Fun Time with Corsets" will be about piecing one corset with various skirts and accessories available in our shop to create different looks for different events or occasions. Now, more people can have a better idea on how to dress-up with our corsets. 

Let's start with our Black Brocade Spiral Steelbone Overbust Corset (F1371-2);

This is my all time favourite corset, as not only is the design simple and classy, but the fabric used is strong enough to withstand high tension for tight lacing. Great to be worn as a fashion piece, and for waist-training.

M and I nicknamed it the "Bridal Overbust" as the top lace trim fits the theme perfectly. This is especially so for it's white counterpart (F1371).

Outfit #1: Match it with a full length skirt for formal events or dinner dates!

Bun your hair up for a classy look + short black satin gloves for a retro touch.

Additionally, you can cover your shoulder up with a blazer, fur coat or shawl.
You can choose your shoes base on what accessories you decided to go with. E.g. gold necklace = gold and/or black heels.

Outfit #2: Cute cocktail dress for prom night!

Tie you hair into a high ponytail or just bun it up + long black satin/lace gloves for a classy look.

Put on a pair of stockings or pantyhose if you're too shy to show your bare legs!

You can even be a dark angel by ditching the necklace and put on some feathered wings!

Outfit #3: Fancy tail skirt is great for any fun, dress-up events!

Who doesn't like tailed skirts! They are so cute yet sexy and fun to swing around in with!!
Go with fishnets and heels, and enjoy all the attention!

Great for any boudoir party or fun D&D events.

Outfit #4: Go with a pair of long jeans!

Due to the body of our mannequin, we cannot put jeans or shorts on it, but take my word, this corset goes really well with long jeans too.

Perfect for when you have plans to visit high end fashion districts but are too lazy to put on a bra. Or when shopping for that magical top/dress that can hide your love handles. Just let this magnificent corset take care of all that!

Grab any jacket or cardigan (to defend you from those dreadful air-conditioning) and slip into any shoes/heels/boots you have, and be on your way!

Outfit #5: Glam up your corset!

We have limited resources in the shop, so this was the best I could do.
(Now, imagine if I had more things to play with....)
The idea for this is that you can add accessories or ornaments directly ontp the corset to suit your theme. Pay a visit to some arts and crafts store to see what options are available.

For those of you who followed us on Facebook and/or Instagram, or visited our Official Website, its probably not a news anymore. However, a big shout out to everyone out there: We Are Back Again!

From 3 January to 31 March 2017, our new pop-up store will be at Havelock II Mall! A brand new mall next to the old Ministry of Manpower (MOM) building and behind Furama City Centre!

Super nice location as it is only 1 minute walk from Clark Quay Mrt Exit A! Outside Exit A is an overhead pedestrian bridge that leads you straight to the side entrance of the mall. We are the 3rd shop on the right (unit 01-06) once you enter the glass door.

For this pop-up store, we have about 150 corset designs in-store. Quite a few designs you see on our official website (www.dcorselet.com.sg) are not in-store, so do drop us a message if you have your eyes set on a particular design to check if they are in-store. For those not in-store, we can make arrangement for the design(s) to be sent here for you to try them on! 

Drop a text message to +65 91939775, or send the image of the design(s) over via Facebook Messenger. Make sure to provide us 2-3 working days to have the items delivered to the shop. You can send us your waist measurement (in inches) if you are unsure what size you should get, we will gladly assist you!

Finally, do note that our pop-up stores accept CASH ONLY, and we issue hand-written receipts upon request. A friendly reminder here that ATMs are not available in this mall yet (that's how new this mall is), so remember to make withdrawal prior visiting our shop to avoid inconveniences!

Temporary Shop Closed

Following the closing of our previous official shop, the time has come again for us to say goodbye to our temporary shop at Far East Plaza #03-42 shop 4/5 (effective 10 Dec 2016, 8:00pm (+8GMT)). Boohoo...

Here's a good news! We managed to find a new location, expected opening date will be on 3 Jan 2017. We will announce the location and operating hours once everything is confirmed.

Again, our online shop is operating 24/7 inspite of the situation of our physical shop. If you need anything for this Christmas or New Year, make sure to complete your online order with us at least 1 1/2 week prior so that you can receive them before your events!

Till the end of 2016, we are providing free shipping for all local orders, and free international shipping for order above SGD80.

Sad but true...

How To Wear A Corset On Your Own; Step-by-Step Guide

Loosen the corset;

1.)    Roughly close the lacings at the back.

2.)    Wrap the corset around you to estimate the gap between the openings.

3.)    Expand the lacings at the back to stretch and cover the gap.

Closing the busk;

1.)    Hold the busk boning for better grip and easier manipulation. Hold the button side inwards, and the hook side outwards.

2.)    Fasten busk starting from the middle. Hook in sequence, going down. Fasten the top busk last.

 

Tightening the corset; (hint: works like a shoelace)

1.)    Lightly tug on the corset to adjust the height.

2.)    If the ribbons tie at the top, pull both ribbons outwards or upwards to tighten overall. Keep a strong grip on the ribbons, and pull at the Xs to tighten more. Tie a simple butterfly knot to secure the lacing.

3.)    If the ribbons tie in the middle, pull sideways to tighten overall. Pull top ribbons downwards to tighten the top, and bottom ribbons upwards to tighten the bottom. Pull on the Xs to tighten specific areas.

For normal fittings, it is not necessary to readjust the corset every time while wearing.

For tight-lacing and waist-training, loosen and readjust for every wear.

Fastening the hook-eye/clasps;

1.)    Start at the bottom, hooking one by one till the top.

Corsets can be worn over or under clothes. A plain corset without trimmings is not visible under most clothes.
