Fun Time with Corsets - 1 - Black Bridal Ovebust

I think everyone, especially ladies, have the trouble of opening up your wardrobe and having no idea what to wear for the day or event. Does this top go with that bottom? Should I wear a jacket? Gloves, stockings, or both?

So when it comes to corsets, there is no doubt that many people become even more confused. One important tip on matching outfits with a corset, is to view the corset as a strapless tube top. However, unlike normal tube tops, they have push-up and tummy-tuck effects! You can say bye-bye to bras and love handles!!

"Fun Time with Corsets" will be about piecing one corset with various skirts and accessories available in our shop to create different looks for different events or occasions. Now, more people can have a better idea on how to dress-up with our corsets.

Let's start with our Black Brocade Spiral Steelbone Overbust Corset (F1371-2);

This is my all time favourite corset, as not only is the design simple and classy, but the fabric used is strong enough to withstand high tension for tight lacing. Great to be worn as a fashion piece, and for waist-training.

M and I nicknamed it the "Bridal Overbust" as the top lace trim fits the theme perfectly. This is especially so for it's white counterpart (F1371).

Outfit #1: Match it with a full length skirt for formal events or dinner dates!

Bun your hair up for a classy look + short black satin gloves for a retro touch.
Additionally, you can cover your shoulder up with a blazer, fur coat or shawl.
You can choose your shoes base on what accessories you decided to go with. E.g. gold necklace = gold and/or black heels.

Outfit #2: Cute cocktail dress for prom night!

Tie you hair into a high ponytail or just bun it up + long black satin/lace gloves for a classy look.
Put on a pair of stockings or pantyhose if you're too shy to show your bare legs!
You can even be a dark angel by ditching the necklace and put on some feathered wings!

Outfit #3: Fancy tail skirt is great for any fun, dress-up events!

Who doesn't like tailed skirts! They are so cute yet sexy and fun to swing around in with!!
Go with fishnets and heels, and enjoy all the attention!
Great for any boudoir party or fun D&D events.

Outfit #4: Go with a pair of long jeans!

Due to the body of our mannequin, we cannot put jeans or shorts on it, but take my word, this corset goes really well with long jeans too.

Perfect for when you have plans to visit high end fashion districts but are too lazy to put on a bra. Or when shopping for that magical top/dress that can hide your love handles. Just let this magnificent corset take care of all that!

Grab any jacket or cardigan (to defend you from those dreadful air-conditioning) and slip into any shoes/heels/boots you have, and be on your way!

Outfit #5: Glam up your corset!

We have limited resources in the shop, so this was the best I could do.
(Now, imagine if I had more things to play with....)
The idea for this is that you can add accessories or ornaments directly ontp the corset to suit your theme. Pay a visit to some arts and crafts store to see what options are available.

That's all for now for our Black "Bridal Overbust". I will update here if more ideas pop-up!

(Hmm.... I wonder which corset should I do next.)

S's First Corset: How Corsets Improve Posture

In my self-intro post, I mentioned about a corset that I tried on, which led to me work for D' Corselet.

So here it is;

(Excuse my very-not-professionally-taken-selfie, I'm just not a photo person....)

This picture is of me wearing my first corset, F1410 Grey Denim Vest Corset, today. A great design that you can wear for casual outings or themed-events (Oktoberfest, Halloween, Wild Wild West.... just to name a few).

M and another friend of ours, E, gave this to me right after I returned from a short trip overseas, and believe me; I had no idea what it was back then, but when M put this magical garment on me, I was instantly IN LOVE! I had never seen myself standing so straight before, without any effort at all!

I used to have bad posture from constant slouching back in school days. As a result, backaches became an almost daily "visitor" even though I wasn't doing any exercise. However, after being introduced to corsets and working in this shop, I started wearing them almost daily and my posture has improved greatly! No more out-of-the-blue backaches!

If you have problems with your posture, or find that you are constantly having lower backaches while doing desk work or studying, I strongly recommend you to try using corsets to keep your back straight.

An important note is that during the first week of wearing a corset, you will feel backaches a few hours after you started wearing, and probably from different muscles than usual. This is as you are used to slouching; the left and right side of your muscles are not evenly developed/used. Therefore, with the corset keeping your body straight, your body will need to adapt to how your muscles are used, similar to exercising the weaker muscle, resulting in muscle soreness. This slowly strengthens the weaker muscles, and once both sides of your muscles are evenly trained, your posture will become naturally straight even without a corset. You will also have lesser backaches than you used to have, while studying or working too.

Note that this is simply based on my personal experience, and only for those with minor posture issues or backaches. By any chance if you have scoliosis or intense backaches, please seek professional/medical advice, before buying a corset, as our corsets are not medical corsets.

S: They're generic but they are beautiful!

Just in case you're curious, yes, all the corsets we have in store are generic. We do not have a professional corset maker in our shop, but we always try our best to procure corsets with good quality and support

I know that there are people out there who might want to tear me apart for supporting generic corsets. I have had multiple experiences, where a person will just walk in, grab our corsets and shake them the way they probably do when they are angry at someone, looked at me dead in the eyes and say 'these are not real corsets!"

No joke. This actually happened quite a few times, and I'm still baffled every time I recalled what had happened.... I do understand that everyone can have their own opinion and everyone has the freedom to express them BUT definitely not in an aggressive way. I'm open to discuss about any issues you have in mind, but it's not called "discussing" when you're shouting at me and don't have the basic courtesy to wait until I finish my sentences

Honest saying, I do know that generic corsets are of different quality compared to custom made corsets. I have seen various custom made corsets before and can tell the differences. Generic corsets do not cinch in as much as custom made corsets do, as custom made corsets are specifically tailored to the user's ideal body measurements. So, yea, we appreciate it if you don't come and trample on us because of that anymore.

For me, there are beauties in generic corsets, and they have their purpose in the market. They serve as a more affordable alternative for beginners or for single fashion uses. There's also a difference in quality within generic corsets. A good generic corset can cinch in the waist to create a smoother and slimmer silhouette, whilst providing sufficient support for lifting up the bust and keeping a straight posture with minimal to no discomfort as long as they are properly adjusted.

So if you are the kind who thinks that only your kind of corset is the “real” corset, and the only reason for you to visit us is to roast us, kindly do not be offended when we ask you to leave our vicinity. Aside from that, you are most welcome to visit us.

Intro: Staff S

Hey everyone! S here! Crazy crazy Halloween we've had and hope everyone had a great time too!

A little bit of delay, but here's my intro!

I started working for D' Corselet at the same time as M (roughly 2 1/2 years ago). Unlike M, I didn't have much encounter with corsets aside from movies or novels, but it was an interesting experience when I first tried on a corset (I'll share with you guys more on this topic in my future entry), after which I was presented with the opportunity to work here by M.

It wasn't easy when we first started. I knew nuts about corsets, and M and I weren't given much training before we were left to handle everything on our own. Good thing we have Google to the rescue! So here's a
special thanks to all corset-lovers out there for sharing their knowledge and passion with all us beginners online. We really do appreciate all the help!

If you ever tried, you'll know finding a corset in Singapore is definitely not an easy task. You can find some in lingerie, costume or sex shops but with very limited choices. The most common feedback we heard are they don't come in sizes, the corsets don't cinch the waist in the way they like it, and there wasn't enough push-up....

Our shop's motto is to help people find the right corset for their occasions and needs! So girls, guys, everyone! If you need a corset come visit me and M at D' Corselet, Far East Plaza!

At any time, we carry more than 100 different styles and designs, with sizes up to 6XL, plus the right amount of support and shaping effect!
We are more than happy to assist you in choosing the right designs to fit your purpose, and the most important is you can try them on!

If you have any queries about our corsets, feel free to comment!
